"Let the God in you speak to the you he created and be yourself."
Shirley Lee Johnson
My poetry should cause you to utilize two modes of the mind or ways of thinking. It should touch your reasoning ability and or your imagination. You should think from a logical perspective, yeah, this makes sense and at, other times, realize that I was just being creative with the poem's design. My poems should evoke an awareness of God in you, our Abba Father, as you read them, especially the ones from everyday occurrences in our lives. Some may just be me on my soapbox, and others may be by inspiration. But you should be able to sense God's hands somewhere in each.
I pray that you find much joy, comfort, encouragement and enlightenment as you partake of the goodness that has been given to me.
Poem of the Month
Weary Yellow Rose
weary yellow rose
dangling on the vine
on such a drear
and cloudy day
gentle raindrops falling
resting on your petals
but the yellow rose stands bright
like liquid sunshine
as she poses against the backdrop
of all the shades of gray
bending her head under
the weight of the water
as the rain continues to fall
weary yellow rose
bent but not broken
still connected to its source
giving hope to all that sees her
still flourishing
still shining
as if she has been
kissed by the sun
shining in the midst
My weary yellow rose
